Three on Thursday

It’s been an interesting week. I was out of town last week on a very last minute trip to my hometown of Brookings, Oregon to photograph the fireworks there, and I managed to schedule 3 last minute beach sessions, plus our own family portraits while I was there. This week, I’m just trying to get caught up with life…

1. Along those lines, one of the projects I am trying to finish up is the goodies I am giving to my 2012 Senior Reps. I had everything ready to go to print two days ago and then I got an idea. One of those ideas you just can’t ignore. Unfortunately, it meant scrapping everything I had already created and starting over. Yesterday, I worked from the time I woke up until I literally fell asleep in front of the computer and finished about 2/3 of the work. Today, I am finishing the last of it and I WILL send these files off to the lab today! (Maybe if I put it in writing for the world to see, it will actually happen…)

2. This morning, I finally ordered 4 prints to take with me to the Professional Photographers of Oregon Summer School next week. This will be my first time doing their print competition, and I am very nervous about what they will have to say. Let’s just hope the lab is as fast as they always are, so I get the prints back before I have to leave.

3. Like most everyone else in Cottage Grove this weekend, we are looking forward to taking Paige to the parade on Saturday for Bohemia Mining Days. She always loves a good parade! Check back tomorrow for a full post about everything that’s going on in the area during Bohemia Mining Days.

And just because I can’t bear to post this without a picture, here is a picture I took at the Village Green Resort at the beginning of Spring. I know, I know… it’s the middle of summer… I just really like this one.

Book your beach portrait sessions now! {Florence, Oregon and Brookings, Oregon Photographer}

If you subscribe to our newsletter, or follow us on Facebook, you know that we have been offering beach portraits this summer. I only have a few openings left, so now’s your chance to get your family, senior or engagement portraits done at the coast!

We will be in Florence, Oregon on Saturday, July 30 and we still have sessions available. We will be in Brookings, Oregon at various times throughout the remainder of the summer, so please contact us for our current available dates and times.

Here are some of my favorite beach shots from last week’s trip to Brookings.

We have extended our early-bird special, so if you book your session by this Friday, July 15, you will receive a complimentary mini accordion album ($40 value) with your order!

We are currently offering two different session lengths for beach portraits, depending on your needs. A 30-minute session is great for Family Portraits or Children’s Portraits. 60-minute sessions are perfect for Senior Portraits or Engagement/Bridal Portraits.

Session fees are due at the time of booking, and are $75 for 30-minute sessions or $125 for 60-minute sessions. Custom-designed products and professional prints are available to purchase, and require a minimum investment of $200.

And, just because, here are a few of last year’s beach portraits.

Lone Ranch Beach Family Portraits {Brookings, Oregon Photographer}

Photographers don’t often spend much time in front of the camera. We always have pictures of our families, but we don’t often get in on the pictures ourselves. Unless you are Maryanne Gobble. Maryanne is the photographer behind New EYEdea Photography, and she is just as talented in front of the camera as she is behind it! In addition to all of her amazing self portraits, she has the patience (even with two young boys) to set up her camera on a tripod with a remote and capture images of herself with her family. But this was their first family portrait session where there was an actual person behind the camera! My best friend since the 4th grade, Maryanne is finally moving back to the west coast after living in Texas for the last several years. We both managed to be in the same place at the same time long enough to exchange family portrait sessions. You can see our family portraits here on Maryanne’s blog, and below are a few of my favorites from her family session.

I love them!!! So bright, cheery, and beachy. So grateful you could do our first portraits EVER! Hopefully I’ll see you again soon now that we are closer.

If you have been following the blog for a while, you will recognize the family in the portraits below. This is my nephew, his girlfriend and their son, who is almost 9 months old. I did Michaella’s maternity portraits last summer, and I have done Aiden’s newborn, 5-month and 7 1/2 month portraits (still waiting to be blogged…), but we hadn’t really done a family portrait session for them yet.

A lot of photographers avoid full sun and mid-day sessions like the plague, but sometimes you’ve just got to work with whatever you can. We had a couple of schedules to work around and ended up doing the session at 11:30 on a beach with almost no shade available. We made it work and got some great shots!

If you are interested in beach portraits, please contact me about available dates. We will be in Florence on Saturday, July 30 for our clients from the Cottage Grove/Eugene area. For clients from Brookings and other Curry County/Del Norte County towns, we make regular trips down there to visit, so contact me for upcoming available dates.
